Agustín earned his Master of Education with a focus on Educational Technology and Language Acquisition. Agustín’s 28 years in education includes teaching visual arts theory and techniques, reading intervention, school-community liaison, homework club coordinator, speech and language pathologist assistant, interpreter, translator, Spanish language immersion teacher, immersion program and visual arts program developer, school leadership board member and lecturer for HSU’s World Languages and Cultures Department and the School of Education.
Agustín collaborates to support educators who serve all students including our emergent multilingual learners and their families. We help equitably strengthen family-school engagement, provide professional development in multiple subject areas and topics, and provide parent-oriented trainings. We support our students designated English Learners by assisting with English Language Proficiency Assessments for California administration, collaborating with our World Language educators to support students wishing to earn the California State Seal of Biliteracy. Also, we collaborate with our History-Social Studies educators to support students seeking to participate in programs like History Day.
