The Department of World Languages and Cultures (WLC) offers programs in Chinese Studies, French and Francophone Studies, German Studies, and Spanish.
WLC has two Bachelor of Arts (BA) major programs in French and Francophone Studies and Spanish (Approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing), and four minor programs in Chinese Studies, German Studies, French and Francophone Studies, and Spanish.
Your experience in a World Languages and Cultures program will be one of cultural immersion. You’ll take language and literature classes taught in the target language. You’ll plan and take part in cultural events, such as producing and performing a play in your language of study, and experience the culture firsthand at one of our weekend retreats to San Francisco.
The Department of World Languages and Cultures has an intellectually, culturally, and internationally diverse cadre of qualified and dedicated faculty and staff who possess an invaluable store of experience and knowledge with which to counsel students about educational and career opportunities in the United States and abroad.
